I am interested in the molecular mechanisms that begomoviruses explore to go through the barriers, such as midgut and salivary glands, inside the whitefly vectors. I expect that my research will contribute to a better understanding of the biology of whiteflies and the mechanisms under begomovirus transmission by the insect vectors, and ultimately to the development of better management solutions for both begomoviruses and whiteflies. Currently, we are trying to decipher the pathways begomoviruses exploit to enter the whitefly cell using a range of techniques including transmission electron microscopy and RNA interference.

I obtained my BSc degree in biological engineering in China Jiliang University in 2015.
