The begomoviruses (family Geminiviridae, genus Begomovirus) cause devastating diseases in many economically important crops worldwide, and all are transmitted by whiteflies in the Bemisia tabaci species complex. To better understand the mechanisms mediating transmission of begomoviruses by the vector insects, I am trying to identify proteins that interact with begomoviruses along their circulation pathway in the body of whitefly vectors. Then, I will try to investigate methods for blocking the transmission of begomoviruses by silencing the related genes in the whitefly vectors.

I obtained my BSc degree in Plant Protection from Shandong Agricultural University in 2014.
